During the opening scene at the start of the episode, Carrie receives a call from Samantha, who is seated in the backseat of a car wearing a red dress and silver trench coat, paired with silver jewelry and a lime green purse.

“My flight’s three hours delayed, Carrie! I won’t be able to make it there in time,” she says, referring to Carrie’s “Last Supper” party for her old New York City apartment that she just sold.

Samantha says Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) told her about the party, and Samantha was planning to catch a flight from Heathrow Airport to New York to surprise her friend just for one night.

“Well, it is your apartment and I have to pay my respects,” she went on to say, before insisting Carrie put her on speakerphone.

“Thank you for everything you f-cking fabulous, fabulous flat,” she announced.

When Carrie teased her about developing a British accent, Samantha feigned surprise.

“Who’s Samantha? This is Annabelle Bronstein! Ta and Cheerio!” she signed off.

The deep reference is a nod to a fan-favorite Sex and the City episode in which Samantha pretends to be a British woman named Annabelle Bronstein to gain entry into London’s exclusive Soho House and use the pool.
