'Walking Dead' Actor Erik Jensen Diagnosed with Stage Four Cancer

Erik Jensen is battling cancer.

According to a GoFundMe page set up last week, the 53-year-old The Walking Dead and Mr. Robot actor is being treated after being diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer.

“After miraculously surviving a brain aneurysm just a year and a half ago, our beloved Erik Jensen was just diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer,” the page reads.

“The cancer has metastasized to his liver, but Erik is young and strong (cutting a film during chemo, working full-time as a director and writer throughout) and his doctors have a shot at shrinking the tumors enough to do two very major surgeries and get them all out,” the page continued.

Erik shares 13-year-old daughter Sadie with wife Jessica Blank.

“He is incredibly resilient and strong; Erik is a survivor,” the page added. “We know he can make it through this, come out the other side, and continue to make great work and support his community for years to come.”

Erik‘s loved ones are hoping to raise $300,000 in total, noting that following his aneurysm and cancer diagnosis, and the Hollywood strikes, his family is now “in an extremely precarious financial position and they need a lot of help to make it through the next year, pay for treatment to fight his cancer, keep their home, and maintain some sort of stability for Sadie.”

“He is one of the most hardworking, loving, truthful and devoted people we know. He needs to help his daughter grow up,” the GoFundMe wrote. “He needs to stick around for the beautiful community he and Jess have built. And he has a lot more art to make in the world.”

After Erik‘s GoFundMe page went live, Walking Dead executive producer Scott Gimple shared the link on Twitter, writing, “One of TWD’s own could use a little help. Erik Jensen, who played Dr. Steven Edwards in S5 was just diagnosed with cancer, and it’s a time of great uncertainty for him and his family. If you want to send something his way.”

As of Wednesday (October 25), Erik‘s GoFundMe has raised over $100,000.
