Kevin Federline has opened up about ex Britney Spears‘ engagement to Jason Trawick.

The 33-year-old dancer was married to Britney from late 2004 until July of 2007, when their divorce was finalized. Kevin and Britney have two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

“I’m really happy for her – I think he’s a great guy,” Kevin told Australia’s TV Week.

“She’s happy; she’s doing really well. I want to say she’s in a good place. I haven’t spoken to her much since I’ve been over here – both of us have been busy with her being on tour – but I do know from talking to the kids and talking to the kids’ teachers that they’re doing really good. It’s a good step in the right direction. I’m totally happy for her,” he added.

Earlier today, the 30-year-old pop star changed her Facebook relationship status to “engaged.”

“Throwing a Bday Party for Jason at Chateau Night Club,” Brit tweeted earlier today. “So fun. Xxoo” Can’t wait to see the other pics!

Earlier in the evening, Britney was seen arriving in Vegas via private jet.

Jason, 40, popped the question to Brit, 30, while celebrating at his birthday dinner on Thursday (December 15) in Los Angeles.

“OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I’ve been waiting for. Can’t wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo” Brit tweeted early Friday – could she be alluding to her engagement ring??

“It’s a way to cement their family. They’re both extremely happy and can’t wait to become man and wife,” a source told Us Weekly.

For $25,000 a month, Brit, Jason, and her boys call a 10,000 sq. ft. estate home, which features a professional chef’s kitchen, library, family rooms, a game room with its own pub, a private gym, and a home theater, Us Weekly reports.

The 30-year-old pop princess was joined by her boyfriend, Jason Trawick, onstage for the finale, as well as her boys Sean Preston and Jayden James.

“That’s a wrap! The Femme Fatale tour is officially over :( Gotta give some end of tour shout outs…” Brit wrote on her Twitter account after the show.
