Selena Gomez almost had some friendly competition for her role as Alex Russo in her Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place – her on-screen best friend Jennifer Stone.
Jennifer, who wound up playing Harper Finkle on the series, opened up about her audition process on her new podcast with fellow co-star David DeLuise.

Jennifer Stone is headed to the frontlines of the coronavirus fight as a registered nurse.
The former Wizards of Waverly Place actress, who played Alex Russo’s BFF Harper Finkle, revealed that she just got her certification this week and is now set to aid others in helping eradicate the virus.
“A very good friend of mine (@maiarawalsh ) pointed out to me that today is #worldhealthday. It is also the day I went from a volunteer, then a student nurse, and now an RN resident,” Jennifer shared on her Instagram account.
She adds that she hopes “to live up to all of the amazing healthcare providers on the front lines now as I get ready to join them. #worldhealthorganization #supportnurses #westayhereforyou❤️pleasestayhomeforus #covid2020.”

David Henrie and Maria Cahill are officially married – and Selena Gomez attended their wedding!
The 27-year-old actor and Maria, former Miss Delaware and teacher, tied the knot in Old Hollywood-inspired ceremony on Friday (April 21) in Los Angeles.
David and Selena played brother and sister on the Disney show. She and other Wizards of Waverly Place wedding guests – including Jennifer Stone, Jake T. Austin, David Deluise, and Maria Canals-Barrera – reportedly all sat on a table together. (via People)
David shared, “[Selena] was one of the first people I told I was getting married. She was like, ‘I’m in. Whenever it is, I’ll be there.’”
He added that Selena was originally going to perform on the big day. “As it got closer, I was like ‘No, just relax and enjoy the evening,’” he explained. “But it very well might [happen spontaneously].”
Selena and David last got together in January for her first Instagram story.

Wizards of Waverly Place star Selena Gomez and on-screen Wizards BFF Jennifer Stone skateboard down a street in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The twosome wore their support for fellow Disney actor and singer Mitchel Musso by sporting a t-shirt with his face plastered in front. The text of the shirt describes Mitchel ever-so-dreamily: “This reminds me of a fairytale… except it’s real.” Swoon.
Mr. Musso performed at the Power of Youth event yesterday benefiting St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, which both Wizards stars attended. Mitchel probably autographed the back of Selena‘s t-shirt at the event!
