Mindy Kaling welcomed her baby girl Katherine Kaling almost 18 months ago and she has never publicly revealed her daughter’s father.

In a recent interview, the 39-year-old actress spoke out about why she decided to keep her daughter’s paternity a secret.

“How did you arrive at the decision not to talk publicly about who your daughter’s father is? Did you know all along that you would keep that private?” the New York Times asked.

Mindy then responded, “My feeling is that until I speak to my daughter about that, I’m not going to talk to anyone else about it.”

Some of Mindy‘s celeb friends loved the pic. Reese Witherspoon commented, “Matching cuteness💕,” and Natalie Portman wrote, “Those pajamas!!!!”

Mindy doesn’t share photos of her daughter that often, so this is a rare treat for fans. She welcomed her baby girl into the world in December 2017.

She also talked about her experience going to A Wrinkle In Time co-star Oprah‘s house, and how Katherine knew to be on her best behavior. And she revealed that she was intimidated to work on Ocean’s 8 with Rihanna!

Mindy gave birth to Katherine on December 15, and has stayed mum on identifying her baby’s father.

Back in August when she confirmed her pregnancy, Mindy said that she hopes that she can live up to her mom.

“My mom was incredibly fierce and so devoted to us, just loved us and really wanted us to be happy no matter what we did,” Mindy said. “My career choice was not something that she was familiar with and she was just so supportive of that. And if I could give that to my child, just that open-mindedness, I’d be so happy.”
