Chris Evans Sought Therapy Before Filming 'Captain America'

Chris Evans heads into the Ed Sullivan Theater to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday (July 11) in New York City.

Earlier in the day, the 30-year-old actor rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

Chris recently revealed he went to therapy after accepting the offer to star in Captain America: The First Avenger.

“I wouldn’t have done it had I not agreed to do Captain America and gone into panic mode,” he told the N.Y. Times. “The second I agreed to do [the movie], I was like, ‘All right, I’ll do this, but I’ve got to start working on my head.’”

“The question is: What’s the endgame? What’s the goal? If the goal is to be a giant movie star, then yeah, this is a great way to achieve that. That’s not necessarily what I’m trying to achieve,” he added.

Why is he trying so hard to sound needy and unattractive? First he was balding, now he needs therapy to do an action hero movie. Somebody tell his wranglers to work that sh-t out.

He used to be hot in Fantastic 4, now he’s kinda too big for his height and he tries to do relevant stuff, just that no one cares.

Boo hoo, I’m making the Captain America movie and I need therapy…what a freaking idiot! He needs to grow a pair.

For God’s sake. He does choose what these people write about or which bits of a conversation they leave in and which they leave out.
And so he’s being modest and honest and he gets it in the neck for it. If he was being the other way you’d be saying he was big headed.
He’s just a nice guy. Get over it.

Why so mean you guys? You saying that taking the responsibility for a mega million movie is something you could just do over breakfast without a trace of anxiety? Good for you. You’re just amazing.

Yeah, he’s big, he bulked up for the movie. He made an effort.

Yeah, he’s good looking so you’re saying he’s not allowed to have any insecurities? He’s just got to be an arrogant Hollywood jock? Not stereotyping him at all are you?

Oh,we have some super confident people here. Coz it’s funny but I was just thinking that if I was in his shoes that’s exactly what I’d be thinking too. He’s just being honest and realistic. And with people snapping at his heals for anything he says it’s no wonder he’s nervous. Give him a break ffs

Boo hoo, good looking, successful movie star isn’t behaving like an arrogant jerk and I can’t take it. He’s OK about losing his hair and it’s confusing me. He gets anxious just like a real person? Outrageous.

I think what people need to bare in mind, is that…

1. He did two superhero movies that were poorly received (Fantastic Four 1 & 2) – which rightly so, because they were crap.

2. Your under pressure to keep a certain muscle weight and physical statue for as long as you play this character.

And 3. When you sign on to do Captain America you don’t just sign on to Captain America, you sign on for Captain America 1, 2 & 3 AND The Avengers 1, 2 & 3. That’s a commitment, that about 10 years. He’s 30. He might want to have kids soon. How can people not see what a commitment it is to do this kind of thing?
