Emma Stone Covers 'Interview' Magazine September 2012

Emma Stone looks fierce on the cover of Interview magazine’s September 2012 issue.

Here is what the 23-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On heartbreak: “Like, within the hour. I remember being on the floor… I have never felt anything quite like that. It was so visceral. It’s like someone has killed you and you have to live through it and watch it happen… It was awful.”

On frequent co-star Ryan Gosling: “I’ve asked him to read a couple of scripts. I just really like hearing his viewpoint because I know that it’s never going to be tainted. He’s very much his own person. It has really just been scripts so far, because I only met him two years ago when we did Crazy, Stupid, Love, but it was like meeting a member of your team or something. I really like his brain.”

On the paparazzi after Spider-Man: “Of course, you do have that moment where you want to say, “I don’t know why there are eight of you here, and I’d like to have a conversation with you so I can know why you need this picture of me walking around . . .” And there are people who start to get really self-defensive and preach to you about why you’re wrong for questioning it. But not everyone is like that. There was this one Hasidic guy who wore a suit, and he was following me around for a while in New York. He was taking my picture, and I was like, “What are you doing?” And he put down the camera and was really nervous and said, “This week, People is running a story on you, so I need three pictures.” And I was like, “Well, at least I know why you’re here.’” But then sometimes they’re like, “You chose this! Why’d you pick Spider-Man?” and you feel like an object or a zoo animal or something.”

Emma Stone is such a smart, solid actress. Of course her take on the paparazzi is level-headed. She doesn’t flip off photogs and whinge and complain about her fame. She seems to take it in stride and realize she’s not digging ditches. Life could be worse.

  • Sarah

She seems so worldy for someone who will only be 24 soon. I read her whole interview and her answers are so wonderful. What a great role model for teenage girls to have.

  • Moh123

I think she will be the next Nicole Kidman

  • Lujisa

I love Emma Stone! However, I have no sympathy for actors who get followed by paps. You make millions, you travel the world, you have fans, and above all you signed up for this. Therefore why should I feel bad? Getting a multi-million dollar paycheck in exchange for photos seems fair to me. If you want to be an actor and don’t want fame then choose Broadway.

  • Frozoid

Seems like she uses the word “like” almost every other word. She’s way too old to be speaking like a Valley Girl.

  • ana

i like what she said about paparazzi.
some are rude and don’t respect the fact that they have money only thanks to celebrity, but there are nice guys too and celebrities shouldn’t generalize them.

  • KissThis

    Emma rules!

  • analice

wowza! That looks nothing like her, but in a really cool way, very artistic.

  • lana

It’s so stupid how people think celebrities have no right to feel uncomfortable with being photographed 24/7 because they “chose” this, it can’t be comfortable or nice to have someone follow you when you’re walking on the street doing absolutely nothing that’s worth photographing. She’s right for questioning it and I admire her for not being rude, sure it’s some guys job to take that picture, so you have to remember they might have a family who depends on the paycheck and if they’re not being un-polite or too invasive you have to just let them do their thing and go home, but don’t tell me you can’t feel weird about it, you should feel weird about it, it’s not natural!

  • Anouq

I just read the whole interview. Just wow. What a level-headed and thoughtful young woman. It’s rare to see such a young actress in hollywood so grounded and in touch with herself. Her parents should be proud.

You can almost sense how in-tune she and Cameron Crowe are and his respect for her. It was more like a conversation between friends than an interview.

I hope she continues to stay so down-to-earth. Love her.

  • Andressa

@Anouq: How awesome that the interview was done by Cameron Crowe, I would be thrilled to be interviewed by someone who I admire as much as him!

but there’s definitely gotta be a limit to how the paps approach people. Why? Two words: Princess Diana.

  • thighmegatampon

She looks gorgeous on the cover.

    Stupid girl. Fake and false.

  • Lou

This girl has a fantastic career ahead.
