Betty White is NOT Dead - Fans Misread Satirical Article

Fans of Betty White got quite the shock when many misread the headline of a satirical article that quickly spread around online on Wednesday (September 3).

“Actress Betty White, 92, Dyes Peacefully In Her Los Angeles Home,” the headline of an article on Empire News said. Most people seem to have confused the word “dyes” with “dies.”

The article features a quote that is supposedly from Betty herself about dyeing her hair blonde all of these years.

“Oh, I started dying it ages ago when my color started to fade away to a more whiteish, greyish color,” Betty reportedly said. “I thought to myself, ‘Well Betty, if you can’t have the dark color anymore, might as well try on the blonde for a while,’ and it just kind of stuck. When I played Rose on Girls, the joke about my natural hair color made it into several episodes. I’ve always had a sense of humor about it.”

After fans got nervous for Betty‘s well-being, her agent told the Los Angeles Times that the actress is alive and “on the set shooting Hot in Cleveland right now.”
