Congratulations. However, the name Silas is awful. Why do celebs insist on giving their kids awful names or made up names like North, Blue Ivy, Dweezil, Apple, Jade, Dylan, Courtney, Audio Science, Camden (one of the nations worst Ghettos), etc. Silas evokes one of the great books in the history of man by George Eliot, Silas Marner, but Silas had a miserable life of suffering and want. Is there a law that Celebs can’t give their children nice classic names like Matthew, David, Paul, Amanda, Emily, Jane, Lilly, Jacob, etc.?

  • nardy

Congrats! And good for them naming their child a somewhat normal name unlike the rest of these celeb wierdos.

  • vinner

Silas is normal old-school name just not common.

    Botwin! cute!

  • GeminiLuver

Silas is just fine. It’s an old name and not very common but it’s normal. How many Emilys, Emmas, Jacobs, Henrys, and Johns do we need?

More. Better than awful Silas. Have you ever read Silas Marner. No. Do you know that George Eliot was a name du plume and her real name was Mary Anne Evans (the Brontes had to publish under the surname Bell and disguise they were women too). Naming you child Silas is like calling him Suffering or Poverty or Misery.

  • shoes4life

Congratulations to them both and their new bundle of joy!!

  • shoes4life

Per Justin’s mother from Yahoo! the baby is named after Justin’s father (Silas) and JT’s middle name Randall.

Sounds gay. Just like his daddy, aw

The name Silas is derived from ‘Silvanus’ which means ‘forest’ or ‘woods’ in Greek. It was also a relatively popular name in the early to mid 1900′s. Silas is by definition a “Classic” name. As are the names Jade, Courtney, Dylan and Apple(Although Apple is a bit more uncommon to see as the name of a person.) Only seeing negative connotations through literature would be like making the assumption that a Susan would become superficial as a young adult and be the only surviving sibling of a train crash. (As per the Narnia Series.)

  • bop

Well, at least doesn’t seem pathetic like you.

  • Jenny from the flop

    Stay strong Jessica biel

  • bop

Are you dumb? Every Justin fan is Jessica Biel? Considering that your life is focused on hating on other people, you must be a sad jealous weirdo.

  • GeminiLuver

Do you really think any child he attends school with will even know who Silas Marner is? I doubt it. He isn’t named North or Apple, I don’t see what the big deal is. Silas is a family name. Justin’s mother said Silas is her father’s name. I doubt he will be teased by other kids because of his name. Geez, he probably isn’t even a day old and he’s getting this much grief over his name. Congrats to Justin and Jessica on their healthy baby boy.

  • guest

You’re the one grossly mistaken if you think that every Justin fan likes Jessica. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

  • LizLemon

Um no…The only one grossly mistaken is you since that’s not even what Bop said. And please don’t speak on behalf of his fan base

  • Sarah

Why do random strangers insist on giving nasty opinions on names of children that aren’t their own? For the record, Silas was his late grandfather’s middle name, a wonderful man that he admired greatly. To me that trumps whatever negativity the Silas you’re referencing brings about, which, by the way, isn’t even culturally relevant anymore. It’s evident they picked a name with a lot of love. Try to remember that the world is actually a lot bigger than the tiny box that you and your rude, unsolicited opinions reside in.

  • Sarah

    Justin’s grandfather, you mean.

  • CeeKrativ

Beautifully said. I love the name Silas…anyone remember Silas from Deadwood? A great character.

  • Amy Prijatel

Yea! Congratulations to you both!! The world will never LOOK THE SAME!! Baby’s change it for the good!

    Just like JT! ❤️

  • jskye

Congratulations to them! My three year old is named Silas, so I am partial to the name. For all you haters of the name, we get tons of compliments on it. It’s classic, but not overly used, with a great meaning for those who love nature.

You know nothing about Justin’s fanbase then.

I’m speaking on what I have seen an actually know. I didn’t say all of his fan base disliked her, I basically said that not every Justin Timberlake fan likes her. In other words, simply because she is “married” to him, doesn’t mean everyone automatically will and should like her, too. I’m responsible for what I said and meant, not what you misinterpreted.

  • guest

Apparently, you don’t either if you think that. I like JT and I am not a fan of Jessica’s. I have seen plenty of conversations where some of JT’s fans blatantly say they like him but not her. It has nothing to do with being “jealous” or any other lame accusations that a lot of her fans use when someone says they don’t care for her. It is a part of life. There are lots of married celebrities who have fans that dislike their mates for one reason or another.

  • HelpCo

Congratulations to Hollywood’s most normal couple!

They are going to be together for very very very long time!!!
