Sofia Vergara Opens Up About Nick Loeb's Embryo Fight

Sofia Vergara wears a red dress while exiting the SiriusXM studios on Monday morning (May 4) in New York City.

The 42-year-old actress appeared on The Howard Stern Show and opened up for the first time about the battle of her embryos with ex-fiance Nick Loeb.

“I totally understand him, but the thing is this. Fortunately, and unfortunately, there is law. You signed legal papers and if it was so serious for him, this issue, which I totally respect if it’s serious for someone, then you should’ve taken it more serious like I did,” Sofia said. “There is a contact. He can’t do anything… We did it two times.”

Sofia also said that a baby needs “more than a mother, [a baby] needs a loving relationship of parents that get along, that don’t hate each other.”

FYI: Sofia is carrying a Bally bag.

I agree with her. Sounds like he wasn’t all into it when they were together and neither was he interested when he thought she was just playing around with Joe. It was only when he found out she was engaged that all of a sudden he wants to be a parent to frozen cells. I just hope that idiot earLoebs don’t retaliate because she spoke about it on Sterns show. He need to move the hell on and leave her be.

He could very well be doing this for publicity or spite but I think her comment completely undermines the role of singles parents. There are plenty of women and men out there raising children on their own because the other person didn’t want to do it.

  • Tania Alvarez-Hildebrand

I’m of the thought that she’s referring to this particular situation she’s in. Those embryos came out of a personal situation she was in at the time. She was in a long term relationship with a man I’m pretty sure she thought she was going to marry and between the two of them, eventually raise these potential children. She’s not with him anymore and these cells are as much a part of her as they are his. So she’s not interested. There are so many amazing children in the world waiting to be adopted, though. It’s not the end of the world for him anymore than it is for her.

I doubt that’s her intention as she has been a single mother herself to her current son. I think she is saying in this situation she thinks it is better for kids to have two parents that care for each other rather than two who are not together and apparently, hate each other.

Looks like SV got some good legal advice before she opened her mouth.

That’s a valid point but I think that sometimes people get caught up in the idea of the nuclear family structure and often forget life is messy and a child born into a bad situation could thrive and a child born into a perfect two parent home could have a much less fortunate life, does that mean we should determine their worth based on that. Now, I don’t know the laws regarding frozen embryo’s or the particulars of their contract, but if it were the other way around I think the public opinion would be very different. I don’t think people would take to kindly to a man telling a woman she couldn’t have her biological children especially if wasn’t asking for any financial support or parental obligation on the part of the other person.

I didn’t think of that, I do believe you are right about if it were the other way around.
