Black Lives Matter Leader Not Amused By Rebel Wilson's VMAs Jokes
Rebel Wilson talks with a friend while leaving the ArcLight Cinemas in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon (September 2).
The 35-year-old actress has come under a bit of fire for her comment and attire on stage during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
“A lot of people have problems with the police, but I really hate police strippers…You guys know what I’m talking about. They come to your house, you think you’re getting arrested, and you just get a lap dance that is usually uninspired!” Rebel said on stage.
#BlackLivesMatter movement leader DeRay McKesson wasn’t too pleased about the joke.
“.@RebelWilson/@MTV, police violence isn’t a joke, as the deaths of #TamirRice, #RekiaBoyd, #FreddieGray, #MikeBrown, & #MyaHall remind us,” he wrote on Twitter.
He added, “When’s the last time you heard a Holocaust, Sandy Hook, or Columbine joke at an awards show? Exactly.”
