'Zootopia' Wins Box Office Weekend, Breaks Disney Record!

Zootopia smashed the weekend box office with a whopping $73.7 million during the animated film’s opening weekend, THR reports.

The movie ranks as one of March’s best openings of all time, and is also Disney Animation Studios’ top opening of all time!

Disney Animation’s previous best was Frozen, which opened with $67.4 million back in 2013.

Gerard Butler‘s London Has Fallen came in at number two in its opening weekend with $21.7 million.

Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool came in at number three this weekend with $16.3 million earned, topping the $300 million mark in North America.

Tina Fey‘s Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and Gerard‘s Gods of Egypt round out the top five with $7.6 million and $4.7 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, Terrence Malick‘s Knight of Cups, which opened in just four theaters in NYC and LA, only brought in $56,668.
