'Mamma Mia' Sequel Officially Confirmed & Given Release Date

Mamma Mia is officially heading back to theaters!

Universal just announced that they are moving forward with Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, a sequel to the 2008 hit movie.

According to the studio’s announcement, the sequel is set to feature Abba songs not featured in the original film, “along with some reprised favorites.”

While the studio did not reveal the new film’s plot, Variety sources say that it could focus on Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, and Pierce Brosnan‘s characters years before the original takes place.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! is set to hit theaters on July 20, 2018.
