Laverne Cox Reveals the One Reason She Wants a Driver's License, Which Hasn't Happened Yet

Laverne Cox is opening up about her mission to get a driver’s license and her recent failed attempt at a road test.

The 47-year-old Orange Is the New Black actress told the hosts on Live! with Kelly and Ryan about it all during an appearance on Tuesday (July 23) in New York City.

Laverne says that she had scheduled her driving test during World Pride in the Big Apple and she broke up with her boyfriend the night before, so she was crying all morning. Because of all the pressure, she ended up getting out of the car before even attempting the test.

“The only reason I actually want to get a driver’s license is so I can drive on camera,” Laverne revealed. “I got an acting job a couple years ago where the character drove and I didn’t have a license so it was an insurance issue. So the only reason I want to get a license is so I can drive on camera. I don’t want to drive in real life!”
