Priyanka Chopra to Star in 'Wild West Country' Inspired Movie Heading to Amazon!

Priyanka Chopra has landed an exciting, new role!

The 37-year-old actress will star in the upcoming Amazon Studios drama Sheela directed by Barry Levinson, Deadline reports.

Priyanka will be playing Ma Anand Sheela, the guru and convicted bioterrorist who supervised the move of cult leader Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh‘s followers to the small town in Wasco County, Oregon – despite heavy resistance from the locals.

This true life story was recently shared in the Emmy-winning Netflix series Wild West Country.

In order to claim governing control over the land, Sheela devised a plan to fix the local election by recruiting hundreds of homeless people to join their cult and had them register to vote in her favor.

In the end, Sheela was convicted of conspiring to poison local restaurants with salmonella to prevent the opposing locals from voting as well as being accused of arson, wiretapping, and attempted murder. Sheela was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but was paroled after 39 months.
