'Love Is Blind' Had So Many Engaged Couples, Some Were Sent Home & Cut From the Show
Love Is Blind had so many engaged couples at the end of the experiment, producers were unprepared to continue following all of their journeys!
On the new Netflix dating series, 15 men and 15 women sat in pods and talked to a stream of potential love interests without ever seeing each other. As connections grew, the singles would spend more and more time with the people they were forming relationships with and they had to get engaged if they wanted to see each other in person.
The Netflix show only reveals that five couples got engaged, but there were actually eight couples that got engaged by the end of the experiment. Those five couples were sent to Mexico for a week to grow their physical connection and then the show put them up in apartments until their wedding dates arrived.
Rory Newbrough is one of the contestants who got engaged, but was ultimately cut from the show.
“They were like, ‘We were expecting one or two [engagements], not eight! We set up to film five!’” Rory told Women’s Health. “It was this weird whiplash moment, like ‘What!?’ They just kind of gave us our phones back and said ‘Good luck, thanks for joining us, but we just can’t cover your story.’”
Rory got engaged to Danielle Drouin on the show and while they took their own post-show vacation to Miami, they “didn’t last that long.”
“The connection, at least on my side, was very pure and very real. I think it just wasn’t as real for her once she thought more through it,” he said. He’d still be open to going on the show again!
“As challenging as it was, if you asked me ‘Would you do it again?’ I’d say yes in a heartbeat,” Rory said!
