BTS Unveils Series to Help Fans Learn Korean While Social Distancing

While you’re self-quarantined at home amid the current health crisis, let BTS help you learn Korean.

The seven-member South Korean boy band has launched a web series to teach fans the language.

The series will feature 30 three-minute lessons, which fans can access via the social media app Weverse starting today (March 24), Rolling Stone reports.

Each episode will center on grammar and expressions, with lesson plans created by researchers at the Korean Language Content Institute and Professor Heo Yong of the Department of Korean Education at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. The idea reportedly arose when fans started asking for English subtitles for the guys’ videos.

“There are only limited ways our fans could learn Korean with ease,” Big Hit Entertainment founder, Bang Si-Hyuk, said in a statement. “Big Hit has created Korean learning media using artist content for a more rewarding and immersive experience for our fans.”

The episodes are “designed to make it easy and fun for global fans who have difficulty enjoying BTS’ music and content due to the language barrier,” Big Hit added.

The series was announced back in February (which was also when BTS canceled their concerts in Korea), but the timing is kind of perfect amid the ongoing health crisis.

Singer Harry Styles is also learning some new languages while social distancing.
