Jared Leto Addresses Rumor That He Sent Margot Robbie a Rat While Filming 'Suicide Squad'

Jared Leto is breaking down his most memorable roles and setting the record straight!

The 29-year-old actor took a deep dive into his characters from films like Dallas Buyers Club, Fight Club, Requiem for a Dream, and Blade Runner 2049 in a new interview with GQ.

Jared opened up about playing the Joker in 2016′s Suicide Squad. He told GQ, “Stepping into the Joker’s shoes is an incredible opportunity. I guess it’s this generation’s version of taking on an infamous Shakespearean character. Lots of people have played the part before, lots of people will play it in the future, so really it’s an opportunity to do something new and to explore challenging territory.”

He also addressed a long-standing rumor that he had given co-star Margot Robbie a dead rat while preparing for his role as the Joker. Margot seemingly confirmed the story in an interview about Jared‘s method acting back in 2016.

“It’s funny how all this stuff takes on a life of its own,” Jared said. “I never gave Margot Robbie a dead rat, that’s not true. I actually gave her a lot of… I found this place in Toronto that had a great vegan cinnamon bun… so that was a very common thing.”
