Source Explains Why Arthur Gunn Didn't Sing at 'Idol' Finale, Even Though He Was There
A source close to American Idol is speaking out to explain what happened with Arthur Gunn.
The Top 7 finalist was scheduled to perform a duet with Sheryl Crow during Sunday night’s season finale and the show even shared a photo of them together backstage at the show.
Well, when it came time for Sheryl to take the stage, Top 16 finalist Graham DeFranco was by her side instead.
So, where was Arthur and why didn’t he perform?

A source who has knowledge of the situation told Entertainment Weekly that “Gunn decided at the last minute that he didn’t want to perform, so DeFranco stepped in.” No explanation for the switch was given during the show and fans were left scratching their heads over what happened.
Arthur came in second place on Idol last year during the show’s quarantine season and he won the comeback competition for a chance to return this year. He was eliminated after performing with the Top 7 a couple weeks ago.
There’s another development that makes it seem like Arthur‘s ties to the Idol family might have ended. The Top 2 contestants on Idol will be performing on Live! with Kelly and Ryan and they’re letting fans vote for one more contestant from the Top 10 to join them. Arthur is not included on the list, even though he was in the Top 10.
