Coca Cola's Stocks Fall After Cristiano Ronaldo Snubs Soda on TV

Cristiano Ronaldo is not a big soda drinker!

The 36-year-old soccer star appeared at a press conference at UEFA Euro 2020 on Monday (June 14) and during the event he moved two bottles of Coca-Cola that were placed in front of him out of view of the cameras as he sat down.

Cristiano then held up a bottle of water and said in Portuguese: “Water!”

According to ESPN, his comment coincided with a major drop in Coca Cola’s market value.

The outlet writes that Cristiano‘s soda snub lined up with the shares of Coca-Cola dropping 1.6 percent, from $56.17 to $55.22, bringing the company’s market value down from $242 billion to $238 billion.

Coca-Cola, who is an official sponsor of Euro 2020, responded in a statement that “everyone is entitled to their drink preferences.”

The video of Cristiano at the press conference went viral on social media and star quarterback Tom Brady reacted to the clip.

“It’s almost like the veterans know what they’re doing….” he captioned a screenshot from the video on Twitter.
