Britney Spears Makes First Statements During Conservatorship Hearing: 'It's My Wish That This End'

Britney Spears is speaking out on her own behalf in her first statements about her conservatorship.

The 39-year-old singer spoke to L.A. County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny in court today (June 23), and asked for Jamie Spears‘ role in her life be brought to an end.

Just days before, it was revealed that Britney had tried to end the conservatorship for years.

“She articulated she feels the conservatorship has become an oppressive and controlling tool against her,” a court investigator wrote in a 2016 report, adding that she felt the system had “too much control…too, too much!”

Britney reportedly informed the investigator that she wanted the conservatorship terminated as soon as possible.

“She is ‘sick of being taken advantage of’ and she said she is the one working and earning her money but everyone around her is on her payroll,” the investigator added in that report.

Now, Britney is making new statements about her state of life, and she wants the conservatorship to end immediately.

An attorney for Jodi Montgomery, who is currently the conservator over Britney as a person, asked that her privacy and her children’s privacy be protected and anything that implicates those rights be private. However, Britney insisted it all be public.

“They’ve done a good job at exploiting my life,” she shared. “So I feel like it should be an open court hearing and they should listen to what I have to say.”

Britney declared in her statement that “a lot has happened since two years ago, the last time I was in court. I don’t think I was heard on any level when I came to court last time.”

“Not only did my family not do a goddamn thing, my dad was all for it,” she continued. “I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m okay and I’m happy.”

However, that’s far from true: “If I said that enough, maybe I’d become happy. … I’m in shock. I’m traumatized. … I’m so angry it’s insane,” Britney added.
