Dr. Luke Gives Kesha Permission to Perform at Billboard Awards

Kesha has been given permission from Dr. Luke to perform at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards.

The 30-year-old singer was set to perform a Bob Dylan song at the awards show on Sunday night (May 22), but the producer decided to block her performance after it was rumored that she would use the platform to discuss their litigation.

Here is the statement released by Luke‘s record label Kemosabe Records: “Kesha‘s performance on the Billboard Music Awards was always approved, in good faith. Approval was only suspended when Kemosabe learned Kesha was to use the performance as a platform to discuss the litigation. Now that Kemosabe has obtained assurances, that it is relying upon, from Kesha, her representatives and Dick Clark Productions that neither Kesha nor her supporters will use the performance as such a platform, the approval has been restored.”

On Wednesday night, Kesha took the stage at a Ben Folds concert to give the performance she was set to perform at the awards show.

Dr Luke Responds to Zedd & Kesha's Collaboration 'True Colors' - Read the Tweet

Zedd and Kesha announced they are in the studio and recording “True Colors” together, which will be released on Friday (April 29).

If you didn’t know, Kesha and Dr. Luke have been in a legal battle as she has repeatedly tried to get out of her Sony contract, citing sexual abuse at the hands of the producer. Zedd took to Twitter to explain that he and Kesha are not illegally releasing the song.

“Just to clarify: We didn’t use any loop holes. Kemosabe / RCA gave us permission to release this song!” Zedd wrote. Later, Dr. Luke responded, “Thanks for the clarification @Zedd …”

Kesha's Mother Drops Counterclaims Against Dr. Luke

It looks like Pebe Sebert, Kesha‘s mom, has dropped her counterclaims against Dr. Luke.

The 29-year-old singer’s mother was counter-suing the 42-year-old producer for “intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress based on the alleged abuse,” according to THR.

Dr. Luke is suing Pebe for defamation and “tortious interference.”

“The litigation with Dr. Luke has been a nightmare for Mrs. Sebert and her family,” her lawyer told the mag. “She has decided to move on and find peace and forgiveness in her heart rather than dwelling in the cancerous past of an ongoing lawsuit with no end in sight.”

Meanwhile, the case between Kesha and Dr. Luke is ongoing.

Kesha's Sony Case Rejected By Court, Judge Sides with Sony

A judge is completely rejecting Kesha‘s emergency order to get her out of her Sony contract with Dr. Luke, her alleged rapist.

The 29-year-old singer pressed to get a New York court date, but Sony pushed very hard to get the case thrown out and the judge has taken Sony’s side. According to TMZ, the judge didn’t buy Kesha‘s “slavery” argument, that she was being forced to work with Dr. Luke, because other producers would have been made available to her via Sony.

Referring to the sexual assault claims, the judge wrote, “Although [Luke's] alleged actions were directed to Kesha, who is female, [her claims] do no allege that [Luke] harbored animus toward women or was motivated by gender animus when he allegedly behaved violently toward Kesha…Every rape is not a gender-motivated hate crime.”

Kesha does have a case pending against Dr. Luke in Los Angeles as well.

Kesha Says She Was Offered Freedom to Lie in Dr. Luke Case

Kesha is giving fans a personal update on her case against Dr. Luke.

The 29-year-old singer took to Instagram where she claims that she was offered a deal for her “freedom.”

“so. I got offered my freedom IF i were to lie,” Kesha wrote. “I would have to APOLOGIZE publicly and say that I never got raped. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS behind closed doors. I will not take back the TRUTH. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again.”

Kesha recently filed appeal papers in the fight against Sony to release her from her contract.

Dr. Luke's Lawyer Releases Statement In Response to Kesha's Appeal Papers

Dr. Luke‘s lawyer is responding to Kesha‘s filing of appeal papers to fight for her release from her Sony contract.

Christine Lepera said in a statement (via EW), “The Court repeatedly stated Kesha was already free to record without Dr. Luke, and that she had not presented any facts supporting her claims. That’s because all the evidence – including Kesha‘s own sworn testimony – show her allegations are false. Her attorneys can continue manufacturing even more false and outrageous claims, but the fact remains that her time would be better spent in a studio than wasting time having her lawyer and mother spin lies in the media.”

Kesha has alleged that Dr. Luke sexually and emotionally abused her for years during their collaborations, and Dr. Luke has repeatedly denied those claims.

Kesha Files Appeal Papers to Continue Fight For Sony & Dr. Luke Release

Kesha has filed papers appealing her denial by New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley‘s to be released from her six-record contract with Sony and Dr. Luke.

“Plaintiff seeks reversal of the Order on the following grounds,” the new court papers read (via Us Weekly). “First, the Court erred in basing its decision on its finding that Kesha could record without interference from Gottwald. Although it recognized that ‘slavery was done away with a long time ago’ and that ‘[y]ou can’t force someone to work … in a situation in which they don’t want to work,’ the Court’s ruling requiring Kesha to work for Gottwald‘s companies, purportedly without his involvement, does just that.”
