Benedict Cumberbatch Discusses Julian Assange's Note on 'GMA'

Benedict Cumberbatch is super fan friendly as he signs autographs and takes pictures outside of Good Morning America on Friday (October 11) in New York City.

The 37-year-old actor went on the show to discuss his film The Fifth Estate, where he portrays real life WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Before filming, Julian wrote to Benedict about his thoughts on the film.

“It was a hard thing to take. But quite within his rights to reply, since the film is based on his character and events. I want that response,” Benedict said about Julian‘s response. “I wanted to gauge his feelings. I was hoping to meet him. He felt very strongly. But in a charming, polite e-mail that he thought the film would be bad for his cause. And I wrote him back to tell him why I thought the opposite. It gave me an objective on his predicament.”
