Prince's Junior High Basketball Picture Is The Ultimate Throwback
A newspaper clipping has surfaced of iconic entertainer Prince from back in his youth when he was on the basketball team at Bryant Junior High!
The 56-year-old “Purple Rain” singer’s photo was tweeted by Star Tribune reporter Libor Jany and it went viral soon after!
“[Prince] was good enough as a freshman to make the Central union varsity basketball team,” Richard Robinson, his former basketball coach, said in another clipping. “Prince was an excellent player; he was like the sixth or seventh man. He was an excellent ball handler, a good shooter and very short.”
“Probably with a different group of people he would have been a starter,” Richard added. “But, as they turned out, they were probably the best ball team that ever came along at Central [High School]. I knew he wanted to be starting and felt he should be starting. He was unhappy and he expressed that many, many times.”
