'This Is Us' Spoilers: Jack Reveals More About His Brother

This Is Us answered more questions that fans have been wanting answers to during the post-Super Bowl episode.

In an episode that aired last October, we found out that Milo Ventimiglia‘s character Jack had a brother named Nicky. While the scene led us to assume that Nicky died in the Vietnam War, nothing was confirmed.

In February 6′s “The Car” episode, Jack told his sons Randall and Kevin about his brother when the two of them got into a fight.

“I don’t understand you two. My brother and me… inseparable when we were your age,” Jack said. When Randall mentions that Jack never talks about anything from when he was a kid he says, “What’s there to talk about? You know the big stuff. My dad was a drunk, my mom was depressed, Nicky was my best friend. We went to war and he died. Not exactly fun to reminisce.”

“My brother and I, we had to look out for each other,” Jack added. “No one was going to do it for us. Okay? But you two, you’re lucky. Nothing’s forcing you to have each other’s backs. So, you’re either going to decide to fix this stuff that’s broken between you, or you’re not. That’s up to you. But I hope you do because your mom and I are not going to be around forever. And when we’re gone, the two of you and your sister are the only people on the planet who are going to be able to look back and remember all of this stuff that happened to you. I know that might not seem like a big deal now, but trust me when I say it.”

Milo recently confirmed that we’ll learn more about Nicky. He told Esquire, “His brother, I think is something that’s going to come up relatively quickly, and play out over the next season or so.”
