Phoebe Almost Had a Very Different Ending on 'Friends'

Phoebe might have ended up with Mike in the end of Friends, but that almost didn’t happen!

During an interview with RadioTimes, Friends co-creator David Crane revealed that Lisa Kudrow and Paul Rudd‘s characters almost didn’t end up together – and that she almost ended up with David, played by Hank Azaria.

“There was definitely a possibility of that. I mean, we didn’t definitively know [who she'd end up with],” David said. “They’re both amazing actors. I mean, both Paul and Hank are fantastic, and fantastic with her. We sort of went back and forth.”

“I don’t even remember all the pieces that led to where we landed, but yeah, it could have gone the other way,” David shared. “Phoebe would have been great with either one.”

If you forgot, Hank‘s character David was first introduced during season one, and appeared several times throughout the show. In the ninth season, David returned from Minsk and professed her love for Phoebe, who was with Mike.

In the end, Phoebe ended up choosing Mike and the two characters got married in the final season.
