Jessica Simpson Reveals Past Sexual Abuse Which Resulted in Alcohol & Pill Dependency for Years

Jessica Simpson is bravely opening up about what she experienced as a child and the resulting alcohol and pill dependency that she ultimately gave up in late 2017.

It all started when she was only six years old “when I shared a bed with the daughter of a family friend. It would start with tickling my back and then go into things that were extremely uncomfortable,” Jessica wrote in her upcoming memoir “Open Book,” via People.

“I wanted to tell my parents. I was the victim but somehow I felt in the wrong,” she added. She finally did tell her parents when she was 12 years old.

“We never stayed at my parents’ friends house again but we also didn’t talk about what I had said,” Jessica continued.

“I was killing myself with all the drinking and pills,” she continued, speaking about her adult life. Rock bottom came at a Halloween party in 2017 when she told her friends, “I need to stop. Something’s got to stop. And if it’s the alcohol that’s doing this, and making things worse, then I quit.”

“Giving up the alcohol was easy,” she added. “I was mad at that bottle. At how it allowed me to stay complacent and numb.”

With the help of twice a week therapy and the support of her family and doctors, Jessica calls her sobriety “a continual gift.”

“When I finally said I needed help, it was like I was that little girl that found her calling again in life,” she said. “I found direction and that was to walk straight ahead with no fear.”

Jessica Simpson looks to be doing so much better and spent the end of 2019 with her family.
