Ben Platt Makes History as Youngest Hasty Pudding Man of the Year Winner!
Ben Platt is making history as the recipient of the latest Hasty Pudding Man of the Year award!
The 26-year-old actor became the youngest winner of the award when he was presented it during a ceremony on Friday (February 7) at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.
The award is “bestowed annually on a performer who has made lasting and impressive contributions to the world of entertainment.” This was the second-ever Hasty Pudding Theatricals performance with a cast of both men and women after years of only men performing at the event.
Ben had to earn his award and among the tasks he was given were apologizing for stealing his bunkmate’s copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at summer camp, a sing-off of “Feeling Good,” a baptism of a group of Mormon worshippers, and giving an Oscar speech as his The Politician character Payton Hobart.
“It’s been a privilege to spend time here today. Thank you for welcoming me and I hope I do well by this award,” Ben said after receiving the award.
