Film & TV Productions Can Restart in Los Angeles on Friday

Los Angeles is slowly getting back to normal.

On Wednesday (June 10), Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer announced modifications to the health order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, which permits the reopening of film and TV production, according to Variety.

The new health guidelines will be issued on Thursday, for the restart of production being Friday, June 12. Sectors will be allowed to reopen once they implement the required protocols.

Other sectors scheduled for reopening on Friday include gyms, day camps, museums, zoos, campgrounds, pro sports arenas (without live audiences) and hotels.

Before entertainment productions can officially resume, union representatives must still agree upon job-to-job protocols. The industry has already set certain guidelines to follow on film sets, which includes regular COVID-19 testing, temperature screening, and symptom monitor.

The industry also recommends the use of masks and protective equipment, the deployment of hand-washing stations, and increased training. The new extra safety measures are expected to slow the pace of production, and increase the cost by as much as 20%.
