Starz Has Cancelled 'American Gods' After Three Seasons

Starz will not be giving American Gods a fourth season.

Deadline has reported that the series, which starred Ricky Whittle, Emily Browning and Ian McShane, has been cancelled after three seasons on the air.

However, there is still talk of a TV movie to wrap up storylines that were left open.

In the third season finale, fans saw as Shadow Moon (Whittle) was sacrificed at the Tree of Life for his estranged father, Mr. Wednesday/Odin (McShane).

Seemingly, the plan for a fourth season would have centered on Wednesday taking advantage of Shadow Moon’s death and his resurgence in the battle against the New Gods.

“Everyone at Starz is grateful to the dedicated cast and crew, and our partners at Fremantle who brought author and executive producer Neil Gaiman’s ever-relevant story to life that speaks to the cultural climate of our country,” a Starz spokesperson shared.

American Gods, based on the books by Neil Gaiman, also starred Crispin Glover, Bruce Langley, Yetide Badaki, Pablo Schreiber, and Orlando Jones.

You can stream the series on Hulu now.
