Alaqua Cox was pictured on the set of Marvel‘s Hawkeye series for the first time on Thursday (April 8) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Alaqua will be playing Maya Lopez, otherwise known as Echo. She is described as a deaf Native American character who has the ability to perfectly copy another person’s movements or fighting style, making her a formidable opponent in battle. Alaqua Cox herself is also Native American and deaf.
Fra Fee, who plays Kazi, was also spotted on set!

In the comics, Echo shares panels with Daredevil, Moon Knight and the Avengers.
Filming began on the upcoming series at the end of 2020, and we have some great photos from set of co-stars Hailee Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner. There’s also a spinoff series already in the works based on her character!
