This marks the highest viewership so far for the series and it was also the best premiere performance of an HBO original series since HBO Max launched in May 2020.

The outlet writes that the third season increased viewership of Succession 21% compared to the season 2 finale and saw a 13% increase from the season 2 premiere. It was also up 39% when compared to the series debut in 2018.

HBO notes that the growth can be attributed to its performance on digital, with the premiere episode holding the title of biggest digital premiere for an HBO series since Big Little Lies season 2 in 2019.

The show was up 214% from last season’s premiere and was consistently the top title over the weekend.

Season 3 also contributed to an increase in viewing of past seasons, with the series reaching an all-time high in terms of monthly viewership in September 2021 and a new daily high with the premiere.
