'Final Destination' Revived at HBO Max with 'Spider-Man' Director Jon Watts Set to Produce

Final Destination is coming back!

On Tuesday (January 11), Variety announced that the horror franchise would be getting a sixth installment, with Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts set to produce.

Longtime Final Destination producers Craig Perry and Sheila Hanahan Taylor have also boarded the project, which will be written by Lori Evans Taylor and Guy Busick.

The film will debut on HBO Max.

“Both Dianne and I have been massive fans of Final Destination from the very beginning,” Jon said in a statement. “So to be able to have a hand in crafting a new story with the original team and New Line is going to be both fun and exciting.”

The first Final Destination movie was released back in 2000 and set up the recurring plot where a character has a premonition of a horrific event and cheats their own death. Eventually Death comes after the survivors.

It was first reported that there was a reboot in the works back in 2019, with two writers from Saw attached to write the screenplay.
