In a news special called 48 Hours: The Final Hours of Amie Harwick on CBS, the Price Is Right host revealed the last text he received about plans to meet up over a year after ending their engagement.

“I got a text from her [that read], ‘I would love to get together with you and talk,’” he said.

“And I said, ‘Yeah, I would love to do that. I love you.’”

He went on to tearfully say that he “never had a chance” to see her before she was killed, but he feels some comfort in knowing there were no hard feelings before her death.

“That’s the big solace I get from it, is that she loved me. And I’m glad I could get that message to her before she died,” he said.

The couple got engaged in January of 2018, ending their engagement later that year.

In February of 2020, Amie was allegedly murdered by ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse, who was charged with one count each of murder and first-degree residential burglary. He pleaded not guilty to the murder in April of 2020.

He also said the upcoming Valentine’s Day will not be “a good day to remember.”

“I don’t know if I’ll ever want to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a dinner. You know? I just don’t want to do anything…Valentine’s Day sucks now,” he said.

“I think about her every single day…you want an intimate relationship where you can open up to somebody completely and be yourself. And she was that for me. She cared so much about helping people. That was her life’s purpose. She just wanted to help people.”

He also spoke about forgiving the alleged murderer.
