Taylor Schilling Explains Why She Tried to Change Her Name in the '90s

Taylor Schilling is opening up the time she changed her name when she was a kid.

The 37-year-old actress chatted about her childhood while appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday (March 10) in New York City.

“I tried to change my name in the ’90s. I got tired of being confused as a boy, which probably had something to do with my bowl cut,” Taylor said. Earlier in the interview, she talked about the time she tried to cut her hair to look like Maria from The Sound of Music.

“I didn’t even think of that till right now. That was probably because of my haircut,” Taylor said with a laugh. “So I was upset about my name, but really I was upset about the bowl cut.”

Taylor continued, “I was upset about my name, so I changed it to Tally. I don’t think I knew what a Tally was. I did it for one season of my soccer league.”

Taylor remarked how Tally was a “weird name” and she even had a song that she made up for her brief new name.
