Hope Solo Enters Alcohol Treatment Program After Arrest for DWI & Child Abuse

Hope Solo has entered an alcohol treatment program nearly a month after her arrest.

The 40-year-old soccer star released a statement regarding the decision to her social media on Friday (April 29) and revealed that her induction into the National Soccer Hall of Fame, which had been scheduled for this year, would be delayed.

“I have contacted the Hall of Fame and respectfully requested a postponement of my Hall of Fame induction ceremony to 2023,” Hope wrote in her statement, which was shared to Twitter and Instagram.

“I will be voluntarily entering an in-patient alcohol treatment program to address my challenges with alcohol,” she continued. “At this time, my energies and focus are totally directed to my health, healing and taking care of my family. I want to thank the Hall of Fame for their support and for understanding my decision.”

In late March, the former U.S. goalkeeper was arrested in North Carolina after allegedly driving her 2-year-old twins – daughter Lozen and son Vittorio — while intoxicated. She was taken into custody outside a Winston-Salem Walmart.

Hope was known for playing on the U.S. women’s national soccer team from 2000 to 2016. She was named the U.S. Female Soccer Player of the Year in 2009 and is a World Cup champion as well as a two-time Olympic gold medalist

She and her husband, former NFL player Jerramy Stevens, welcomed their twins in 2020.
