Tom Cruise Pays Tribute to the Late Entertainment Lawyer Bert Fields

Tom Cruise recorded a video message for Bert Fields‘ memorial service last Sunday (October 2) in Santa Monica, California.

Bert Fields died in August 2022 at the age of 93. Jeffrey Katzenberg, Dustin Hoffman and Michael Ovitz all recalled him as a loyal friend. Elaine May and Tom Cruise recorded video tributes.

“And I sit next to this extraordinary person. I didn’t really know who he was. We just sat there and I ended up talking to him the whole evening. He’s the most fascinating person that I’ve ever met,” Tom said in the video, obtained by TMZ. “We talked about history, we were talking about stories. He told me he was a writer. I said, ‘I’m sorry but who are you, who do you know,’ and he said, ‘I’m Dustin’s lawyer.’ I said, ‘I want you to be my lawyer, can you be my lawyer please?’ And he said, ‘Absolutely.’ ”

Tom currently has three movies in the works, including Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One and Part Two.
