1. Ryan Murphy was pitched Glee while in a towel at the gym!

Ryan revealed on the podcast that he was searching for a musical project to do for Fox after the success of his show Nip/Tuck. While he was at the gym and in a towel, someone approached him with a script and said, “I have a feeling you were in show choir, am I right?”

The person had a script from his friend Ian Brennan and he read it a few weeks later. He described it as a “dark comedy” that was similar to the movie Election.

“The NC-17 version of show choir with, like, a weird protagonist who was unraveling,” he said.

They ended up turning that script into the show that Glee became.
