Here's Why George Lopez Dropped Out of The Golden Globes 2023 Nominations Announcement

George Lopez was noticeably missing from the 2023 Golden Globes announcements.

The 61-year-old comedian was the planned announcer but he shared on Instagram that he had just tested positive for COVID.

“And the Covid goes too…….George Lopez!” he wrote on Instagram Sunday evening. “Unfortunately I tested positive, so I’m unable to announce the Golden Globe Nominees. I wish MAYAN and SELENIS the best of luck….. Have fun!!”

The actor’s daughter Mayan Lopez and actress Selenis Leyva were the announcers for the nominations.

Mayan similarly joked in her story, “And the covid goes too… @georgelopez! Luckily we have a big Lopez family now and I am so excited to be announcing the @goldenglobes nominations with the lovely @selenislevyaofficial ✨, feel better Dad 🥹”
