Spice Girl Mel C Pulls Out of New Year's Eve Gig in Poland - Find Out Reason Why

Mel C is backing out of a gig.

The Spice Girls superstar has pulled out of a New Year’s Eve event in Poland, she confirmed on social media on Monday (December 26).

“In light of some issues that have been brought to my attention, that do not align with the communities I support, I’m afraid I will no longer be able to perform in Poland as planned on New Year’s Eve,” she wrote.

“I hope to be back there very soon. Hope you’re all having a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for 2023.”

She did not elaborate further on the communities she was supporting, but many have since taken the message to be referring to the LGBTQ community.

The show would have been put on by Poland’s public broadcaster TVP, who in recent years has been accused of fueling propaganda against the LGBTQ+ community, via Deadline.

Poland leans politically conservative regarding LGBT rights, and there are even “LGBT-free zones.”
