'Sherlock' Showrunner Makes Public Plea To Benedict Cumberbatch & Martin Freeman For A Possible 5th Season

Fans aren’t the only ones wanting a fifth season of the hit series, Sherlock – so does showrunner Steven Moffat.

Steven said, via Deadline, that he would “start writing tomorrow” if the two would reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.

“They’re on to bigger and better things but, Martin and Benedict, ‘please come back?’,” he joked on the show.

Sherlock ended almost five years ago, with Benedict and Martin moving on to other projects following the show’s end.

Benedict joined the MCU as Doctor Strange just as the show was wrapping up. Meanwhile, Martin is a recent addition to the MCU with Black Panther, where he stars as Everett K. Ross.

Sherlock Holmes continues to be a hot property – with Netflix focusing in on the titular character’s younger sister, Enola Holmes, and HBO weighing options with the movie franchise.
