Ed Sheeran Teases 'Transition Into Country' Music, Reveals Who Turned Him Onto the Genre Before Attending ACM Awards 2023

Ed Sheeran is considering switching up his music career in a big way.

Fresh off his big win in the “Thinking Out Loud” copyright lawsuit, the 32-year-old hitmaker is set to take the stage at the 2023 ACM Awards on Thursday night (May 11).

He walked the red carpet outside the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas wearing an emerald jacket that perfectly complemented his hair. Ed finished the look off with a pair of sneakers and a white t-shirt.

While his performance is currently a one-time crossover, he did tease plans to release more country music in a recent interview.

Speaking with Billboard, Ed explained that he has considered leaving pop behind to jumpstart a country career.

“I talk about this to my wife all the time. I would love to transition into country,” he admitted. “I love the culture of it, I just love the songwriting. It’s just like brilliant songs.”

He added that he has Taylor Swift to thank for turning him onto the genre.

“I’d never really listened to country music as a kid growing up. It was only being on Taylor’s Red tour and living in Nashville and her basically introducing me to that side of it,” Ed explained.
