The term is an example of onomatopoeia, and it’s a reference to the sound of a heartbeat, as she sings: “Padam, padam, I hear it and I know / Padam, padam, I know you wanna take me home / Padam, and take off all my clothes / Padam, padam, when your hеart goes ‘padam.’”
Fans of the song have been amusingly putting “padam” just about everywhere online!
The meme explosion comes just after Kylie appeared on the American Idol finale last Sunday night (May 20), where she debuted “Padam Padam” live, as well as performing her hit “Can’t Get You Out of My Head.” Watch it here!
