Anita Baker Drops Babyface from Her Tour Amid Clash with His Fans

Anita Baker has announced that she will be continuing her tour alone after dropping her special guest Babyface from the remaining dates.

The legendary singer has claimed that she is being abused by Babyface‘s fanbase, one month after he was asked not to perform at the New Jersey show on their tour.

Babyface was billed as a supporting act on the tour, but fans seemingly thought it was a co-headlining tour.

Back in May, Babyface told fans at the New Jersey show, “I am truly sorry to my fans who have been waiting for us to hit the stage this evening at @PruCenter. I was asked not to perform in order to give Ms. Baker her space and time to perform her show in its entirety. My band and I are extremely saddened we didn’t get to perform for y’all tonight 💔”

Now, Babyface has been asked to leave the tour and both he and Anita are commenting on the situation.

I will continue, ‘The Songstress Tour,’ alone. Appropriate refunds will be made. Blessings,” Anita wrote on Twitter on Tuesday (June 13).

Babyface said in a statement, “I am saddened by the news that Anita Baker has decided to remove me from ‘The Songstress Tour.’ It’s unfortunate and disheartening to see how things have played out via social media. While I was looking forward to the rest of the dates, I have nothing but love & respect for Anita and I wish her the best for the remainder of her tour.”

Earlier this year, Babyface performed on one of the world’s biggest stages.
