Is Taylor Swift's 'Sparks Fly' About Jake Owen? Country Star Weighs In On Rumor

Taylor Swift‘s music is dissected by her Swifties and the rest of the world with a razor-sharp blade from the very moment it arrives, and one of the most frequently asked questions when it comes to her love songs is who they are about.

Fans did some digging and think that they know the answer to that question for her 2010 song “Sparks Fly,” which is trending again with the recent release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

Citing evidence put together from a MySpace post, they think Taylor is singing about fellow musician Jake Owen. More than a decade after its initial release, he’s weighing in on the rumors!

During a recent interview, he reflected on being involved in the song’s lore.

“It’s a great song and the speculation has always been funny to me,” Jake told People. “I’m sure Taylor probably laughs at it all too, but I’m happy to even have my name in the discussion around it.”

Jake referenced his long connection to Taylor, who he met when she was only 16.

“She’s an amazing girl and an amazing artist,” he said of the hitmaker. “It’s been incredible to see how she’s grown as a musician and what a global phenomenon she’s become.”
