Ellie Kemper Reveals What It Was Like Having Jon Hamm As Her High School Drama Teacher

Ellie Kemper is sharing some new details about her surprising history with Jon Hamm.

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live to promote her podcast Born To Love, the 43-year-old actress revealed that the Mad Men star was her drama teacher in high school.

When asked if she had a crush on Jon while she was in school, Ellie replied: “Here’s the thing, he’s 10 years older than I am. He went to my high school. To give people some background, he went to my high school, went to college, came back and taught drama for a year at our high school and it was, he’s the youngest teacher by far. He’s not bad looking and he’s teaching drama.”

“Well, no. Excuse me. He’s great looking,” Andy quipped.

“He’s in fact great looking,” Ellie agreed.

Andy then asked if they ever reconnected and Ellie shared that the 52-year-old actor once made a cameo appearance one of her comedy shows.

She explained, “Jon Hamm is a generous, selfless kind of guy and I reached out to him when I was doing my one person show. A little comedy show. I had my little suitcase of props. I was doing this one person show in Los Angeles and at that time, he was already famous on ‘Mad Men, and I emailed him from our high school, you know, directory. I said, ‘Hey, I’m doing this show. I know you’re really busy, but it’d be great if you could come,’ and you know, he came and that’s when I reconnected with him.”

“I mean, that’s a class act, right?” she added. “He’s a good guy.”
