Robert De Niro Will Not Reprise 'Taxi Driver' Character For Uber Ad

Robert De Niro has teamed up with Uber for a brand new ad campaign, but he will not be reprising his role as Travis Bickle.

The 80-year-old actor starred as the character in 1976 hit Taxi Driver, and rumors started to swirl about Robert bringing back the character for the campaign.

However, according to a statement from his rep, this is not true.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, a rumor about Robert stepping back into a taxi driver role for the ad started to circulate over the weekend as he was filming in London.

The debunked reports stated that he would be uttering his infamous line, “You talkin’ to me?”

Robert‘s rep, Stan Rosenfield then set the record straight, and told THR that would saying that line, nor would be be back as Travis Binkle.

“De Niro’s Uber commercial has nothing to do with his Taxi Driver character,” the statement reads.

His Uber ad campaign is set to air later this year, and details about it are still unknown.

Robert earned a Best Actor nomination for his role in Taxi Driver.
