Game of Thrones' Original Daenerys Actress Talks About Being Replaced by Emilia Clarke After Filming the Pilot

Emilia Clarke wasn’t the actress who played Daenerys Targaryen in the pilot for Game of Thrones and the actress who originally was cast has spoken out about being replaced.

The role was played by actress Tamzin Merchant in the show’s 2009 pilot and she was recast when the show was picked up by HBO.

Tamzin spoke out later year for first time about Emilia taking over the role and how she felt about losing the role, which became one of the most iconic characters in television history.
