The new CBS All Access series The Stand, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, will be released later this month and the streamer just released lots of new images from the show!
Alexander Skarsgard stars in the series as Randall Flagg, a supernatural supervillain, and one of his co-stars has compared him to a “sexy Trump.”
The Stand is set in “a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man (Skarsgard).”
“He’s sort of sexy Trump,” co-star Fiona Dourif told Entertainment Weekly.
Co-star Katherine McNamara added, “It’s a bit terrifying when you’re with hundreds of extras chanting insane profanities at Alexander Skarsgard lording over us as Randall Flagg.”
Alexander himself also opened up his take on the character. He said, “Flagg’s such a formidable opponent, I decided to focus on his vulnerability.He needs adulation and accolades from his sycophants, and that fuels his ego. That’s interesting because he shouldn’t care about tiny humans at all but still craves their devotion.”
James Marsden, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Amber Heard, Owen Teague, Henry Zaga, Nat Wolff, and Greg Kinnear all star in the new series as well.
The Stand premieres on CBS All Access on December 17 and new episodes will drop weekly on Thursdays following the premiere. Watch the trailer now!
