Zach Braff Joins Amanda Kloots to Pay Tribute to Nick Cordero at 'Waitress' Re-Opening Show

Amanda Kloots was in the audience for the first performance of Waitress the Musical‘s return to Broadway!

The 39-year-old The Talk co-host was in the crowd with her longtime friend Zach Braff to pay tribute to her late husband Nick Cordero on Thursday (September 2) at the Barrymore Theatre in New York City.

Nick originated the role of Earl in the Broadway musical and he sadly passed away last year due to complications from COVID-19. A pie in the show has been named after Nick‘s song “Live Your Life” and a new line was added to the musical to point out the pie.

After the show, Amanda joined star Sara Bareilles and the rest of the cast on stage to honor Nick. They then had a sing-a-long to “Live Your Life.”

Amanda Kloots Explains Why She Hates Using the Word Widow & Proposes a New Term!

Amanda Kloots is getting honest about her true feelings about the word “widow.”

The 39-year-old The Talk co-host, who sadly lost her husband Nick Cordero last year, got candid on her Instagram on Friday (August 27).

“Did you know that the Indo-European root meaning of the word widow means ‘be empty?’ Be empty. ‘Be,’ in case you forgot, is a verb, an action word. I have to identify myself with a word and that means to stay ‘empty’ – no wonder I hate saying the word! I am not a glass half empty kind of girl!” she wrote.

“What’s ironic to me is that in meeting and spending time with other widows and widowers we are doing everything but ‘being empty.’ We are desperate to FILL our cup! We are trying everyday to live a life that is overflowing in presence and gratitude,” she continued.

“I don’t know how you go about changing a word, but I propose a word that means something more hopeful. A word that gives us strength and power! A word that is optimistic in a time when we need it most!” she went on to say.

“Renovare, means to ‘renew’. I’m not sure if it’s the right word, but it sure defines me more than ‘be empty.’ So here’s to my fellow renovares who are striving everyday to renew, reinvent and refill their cup!”

Amanda Kloots has also been speaking out in response to criticism that she’s dating too soon after the death of her husband.
